Halloween cupcakes! These are yellow cake, made from a recipe in my handy Better Homes & Gardens cookbook, with basic vanilla buttercream frosting. The little toppers were purchased at JoAnn Fabric; the mummy parts were sent by my mom (I think from WalMart or Target).
Not satisfied with just making chocolate chip cookies (from scratch, of course) using Nestlé Tollhouse’s orange chocolate chips, I decided to also make “gingerdead” men with my cookie cutter. Some of their heads fell off when people picked them up, which seemed appropriate!
These were made with yellow cake, using this pan, which creates sort of large acorn-shaped cakes. I froze those and cut them in half, then they were dipped first in orange candy melts. They were put in the fridge to harden (I was impatient), then dipped just a little bit into white candy melts. Ta-da! […]
