Send in the Clowns

I was pondering what to use as my first post for this blog, when I stumbled upon a comedy sketch I wrote back in 2003 when I was living in L.A. The piece is based on a character I created for a play writing class in college. Augustus (Auggie) the clown is a Sideshow Bob-esque character. He is tired of being typecast in comic roles, but no matter what other genres he tries to break into, they never have the intended effect.

The sketch was intended as a segment from an action film, which Auggie hoped would free him from the funnyman image.

Yesterday, I found a copy of the sketch lurking in my Google Docs account. After reading through it, I was pleased at how well it held up and thought I would share it with the internet. I would love to re-film the piece at some point. The first iteration has been lost to time.
